SMSL has introduced a new DAC and preamplifier SMSL D200. The device went on sale for $319 – the price seems quite interesting, especially considering that the model uses a top-end 32-bit ROHM BD34352EKV digital-to-analog converter and a 16-core XMOS XU316 USB processor. The device supports decoding in PCM format with a resolution of up to 32 bits / 768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512.
The SMSL D200 DAC uses its own clock generator, which significantly reduces jitter and ensures clean, accurate and high-quality playback. The component also supports connection of an external clock generator, compatible with standard 10 MHz and atomic clocks. With the latest Bluetooth chipset from Qualcomm, the SMSL D200 DAC provides a stable wireless Bluetooth V5.1 connection with support for LDAC, aptX HD and other codecs.
The SMSL D200 DAC offers a full range of connections, including wireless Bluetooth, wired USB, coaxial and optical digital ports. The wired interfaces support MQA and MQA-CD material.
The cherry on the cake is the preamplification function based on a fully balanced preamplifier on two NJU72315 chips with ultra-low distortion (up to 0.00013%).
