Silent Power, part of iFi audio, has introduced the Silent Power Omni LAN network switch, equipped with eight regular RJ-45 LAN ports, as well as a fiber optic port for complete galvanic isolation. The model was released for audiophiles who want to achieve maximum quality from digital systems based on streaming over a local home network or from streaming services.
Using an optical interface is the most effective method of eliminating electrical interference across the entire frequency spectrum - and Silent Power Omni LAN was originally developed as a specialized "plug-and-play" solution for adding galvanic isolation to an existing system. The design is based on an optical block that converts incoming data into light and back, providing complete electrical isolation between the input and output. This prevents electrical noise, interference and stray currents from reaching the most sensitive components of the audio system, improving synchronization at the conversion stage.
With remote control via the iFi Nexis mobile app, you can control the Omni LAN switch from anywhere in your home. The Silent Power Omni LAN switch offers a total of 13 ports, nine of which are standard RJ45 ports (with single-stage isolation) for routers, servers, etc., and four Ultra-Pure ports (with three-stage isolation) for streamers.
There is also a 10 MHz external sync port (BNC). With clock synchronization, jitter is minimized by an internal femto-precision clock with the ability to turn synchronization on or off. A high-resolution color TFT display on the front panel of the device provides real-time bandwidth information for each port. The SilentPower Omni LAN Ethernet network switch can be ordered in Europe at a recommended retail price of 800 euros.
