KLH Model Four – Three-Way Loudspeaker with Classic Styling

American brand KLH Audio has expanded its Model Collection with the new KLH Model Four loudspeaker. The model sits between the Model Three and Model Five, offering listeners a more compact floorstanding speaker with a full three-way architecture. The new model is aimed at those who want serious sound in a vintage-style design, but are not ready to allocate a lot of space for large loudspeakers.

In terms of construction, the KLH Model Four brings together solutions already familiar from other models in the company’s range. From the Model Three, the speaker received an 8-inch woofer, while the midrange driver, tweeter and crossover circuitry were taken from the larger Model Five. At the same time, the cabinet itself was designed with the flagship Model Seven in mind: it features a wide front baffle and a relatively shallow depth.

One of the key features of the KLH Model Four is its ease of placement in living spaces. The manufacturer emphasizes that the speaker is well suited for apartments, lofts and rooms where loudspeakers often have to be positioned close to walls. This is helped by the sealed acoustic cabinet design, which should allow the system to maintain stable and controlled low-frequency performance even when placed near a wall or in a corner.

The cabinet measures 13 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep. When used with the included angled stand, set at 6 degrees, the overall depth increases to almost 11 inches. According to KLH, the Model Four is the shallowest loudspeaker in the current Model Collection, making it especially convenient for rooms with limited installation space.

The KLH Model Four is built as a three-way loudspeaker and uses a sealed cabinet. Its driver complement includes an 8-inch woofer with a pulp-paper cone, a 4-inch midrange driver with a cone made from the same material, and a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter. The stated operating range is 46 Hz – 20 kHz at ±3 dB, while low-frequency extension reaches 35 Hz at -10 dB.

For adapting the sound to a specific room, the speaker is equipped with a three-position Acoustic Balance Control, allowing the character of the midrange and high-frequency output to be adjusted. The KLH Model Four also features gold-plated five-way binding posts and magnetically attached protective grilles. The model will be available in English Walnut, Black Ash and White Oak finishes. Sales are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with a recommended retail price of $999.99 / €999 per speaker, including the matching stand.
