Danish company Jamo has introduced its new Concert Legacy series of passive loudspeakers, with which the brand brings the Concert name back to the high-end classic Hi-Fi segment. The line-up includes three models: the standmount Concert Legacy 8, the floorstanding Concert Legacy 9 and the top-of-the-range Concert Legacy 11. The new models are inspired by Jamo Concert loudspeakers from the 1990s, but are built around modern drivers, an updated engineering platform and a more refined cabinet design.

Jamo emphasises that Concert Legacy should not be seen simply as a retro series. Rather, it is a modern interpretation of the brand’s earlier philosophy: to create serious Hi-Fi loudspeakers with a timeless design, high-quality finish and the ability to fit naturally into a living space. Within the new Jamo Concert platform, the Legacy series occupies a more premium position, while the Concert Element Series is aimed primarily at interior design and contemporary visual aesthetics.

Production of the Concert Legacy loudspeakers is based in Denmark. The construction uses components of Scandinavian origin: Scan-Speak tweeters, midrange and bass drivers based on SEAS technologies, as well as cabinets finished in natural veneer. For the floorstanding models, Jamo has chosen bass drivers with paper cones reinforced with wood fibre.

One of the series’ notable design features is an aluminium plinth that gives the cabinet a four-degree tilt. A downward-firing bass reflex port is integrated into the base. This approach should make the loudspeakers less sensitive to their distance from the rear wall compared with conventional systems that use a rear-facing port. This is especially important for domestic interiors, where loudspeakers can rarely be positioned strictly according to audiophile rules.

The floorstanding Concert Legacy 9 and Concert Legacy 11 use Jamo’s proprietary DualCore construction. The upper section of the cabinet, which houses the tweeter and midrange driver, is separated from the lower bass chamber by a rubber layer with a hardness of 75 Shore A. This separation is intended to reduce the influence of pressure and vibrations from the low-frequency section on the midrange, which is particularly important for the clarity of vocals, string instruments and acoustic music.

The entry-level model in the line-up is the Jamo Concert Legacy 8, the only standmount loudspeaker in the series. It is a passive two-way system with a 25 mm Scan-Speak soft-dome tweeter and a 165 mm SEAS L18RN4X mid/bass driver. The latter uses an aluminium-magnesium cone and a copper phase plug. The stated frequency range is 34 Hz to 21 kHz at -3 dB, sensitivity is 87 dB, impedance is 4 ohms, and the recommended amplifier power ranges from 40 to 200 W.

The Jamo Concert Legacy 9 is a compact three-way floorstanding loudspeaker. The model features a 25 mm Scan-Speak tweeter, a 165 mm SEAS L18REX midrange driver and a pair of 165 mm Scan-Speak bass drivers with wood-fibre-reinforced paper cones. The stated frequency range is 33 Hz to 21 kHz at -3 dB, while the lower limit at -6 dB reaches 27 Hz. Sensitivity is 92 dB, and the crossover frequencies are specified at 250 Hz and 3 kHz.

The flagship Jamo Concert Legacy 11 is based on a similar three-way architecture, but is equipped with three 165 mm Scan-Speak bass drivers. Together with the 165 mm SEAS L18REX midrange driver and 25 mm Scan-Speak tweeter, this configuration is intended to deliver a larger-scale presentation, greater dynamic headroom and full-range low-frequency performance. For the top model, Jamo specifies a frequency range of 32 Hz to 21 kHz at -3 dB, a lower limit of 26 Hz at -6 dB and a sensitivity of 94 dB.
All Jamo Concert Legacy loudspeakers will be available in three finishes: Heritage, Northern Frost and Onyx. Pair prices are €3,299 for the Concert Legacy 8, €5,499 for the Concert Legacy 9 and €8,999 for the flagship Concert Legacy 11.
