The Imersiv D-1 HDR-A DAC from Millennia Music & Media Systems promises a revolution in digital-to-analog conversion. According to the developers, the signal-to-noise ratio and distortion levels are up to 100 times better than the finest contemporary DACs. The technology, called HDR-A - High Dynamic Range Audio, opens a new horizon in audio reproduction.

Millennia Music & Media Systems brings approximately 35 years of professional audio expertise. The company manufactures the leading microphone preamplifier for Hollywood orchestral recording, classical recordings, acoustic jazz, and more. Millennia began as a classical music production studio, using its own equipment to record over 600 works primarily in Northern California.

The D-1 HDR-A achieves an astonishingly low wideband noise floor of 40 nanovolts - approximately 40 dB lower (100 times quieter) than the best contemporary DACs. Moreover, the D-1's self-noise is 25 dB below the measurement threshold of APx555B analyzers. HDR-A technology allows increasing the upper channel's headroom to any level without affecting the noise floor. The D-1 delivers +22 dBu (10 V) ISO-free headroom while maintaining 40 nV noise, providing true wideband linearity and 28-bit dynamic range (168 dB).

The core of Imersiv HDR-A is a revolutionary multi-path audio architecture. Multi-path audio processing is analogous to HDR in photography - the analogy is so precise that engineers named the technology HDR-A. In Imersiv HDR-A, multiple signal level stacks are intelligently combined into a single audio stream, delivering dramatically extended dynamic range. Pricing and availability will be announced later.
