Dynaudio Legend – Premium Compact Loudspeakers with a Danish Character

Dynaudio will unveil its new Legend High End loudspeakers for the first time at AXPONA 2026 in Chicago. For the Danish brand, this is not just another model, but a special project in which the emphasis has been placed equally on outstanding sound, expressive visual design, and a high level of handcrafted execution. The new model is produced at the company’s factory in Skanderborg, Denmark, and is positioned by the manufacturer as an example of luxurious passive monitor loudspeakers.

Dynaudio emphasizes that the Legend is aimed at two audiences at once. On the one hand, it is a loudspeaker for those who want to see audio equipment not only as a tool for listening to music, but also as an object of aesthetic value. On the other hand, the model is designed for demanding audiophiles, for whom accuracy, scale, and the level of sonic refinement remain the main priorities.

As the company notes, the Dynaudio Legend combines a reference-level approach to sound with a design that looks almost like an object of interior art. What matters here is not only the acoustic performance, but also the visual impression the system makes. The Legend is conceived as equipment capable of fitting naturally both into a serious audio system and into a space with a strong emphasis on style.

Otto Jørgensen, Head of Dynaudio Academy, described the Legend as the best ultra-compact loudspeaker system in the company’s history. According to him, the model combines the character and visual heritage of the brand’s most iconic creations with surprising versatility and genuinely high acoustic potential. In his view, the result is a product that sets a new benchmark in the class of compact High End loudspeakers.

The appearance of the Dynaudio Legend references famous models from past years, including the Compound from 1986 and the Consequence from 1984. The new speaker features distinctive hand-crafted curved corner elements that are difficult to manufacture even for experienced specialists. The look is completed by expressive finishing, exposed fastening elements, and a deliberately massive cabinet that creates a recognizable vintage aesthetic.

The cabinet of each loudspeaker is made from MDF with internal bracing, while the exterior finish is crafted from natural rosewood. For each pair, the veneer is individually selected by grain pattern, after which the panels are hand-matched into a single composition. That is why every produced pair is effectively unique. Formally, the model is not a limited edition, but each set is created as an individual work with a distinctly artisanal character.

From a technical point of view, the Dynaudio Legend also belongs among the brand’s most advanced developments. The high frequencies are handled by a 28 mm Esotar 3 soft-dome tweeter with Hexis, one of the finest high-frequency drivers in the company’s arsenal. The same tweeter is used in the flagship Confidence series as well as in the professional reference monitors of the M-series.

The midrange and low frequencies are reproduced by a 15 cm reference-class driver equipped with a specially developed ceramic magnet system based on strontium carbonate. The diaphragm is made from the company’s proprietary MSP material, which combines low mass, high rigidity, and good damping properties. Thanks to this, the loudspeaker is expected to deliver dense, precise, and full-scale reproduction of the midrange and bass, usually associated with larger-format speakers.

The crossover uses first-order filters and, according to Dynaudio, has been designed for maximum simplicity and acoustic purity. Its construction employs air-core inductors and Duelund capacitors, which should contribute to high precision, transparency, and a natural sound character.

The rear bass reflex port with a flared outlet profile has been borrowed from the Confidence 20 model. The speaker terminals are WBT NextGen, the same as those used in the Confidence, Contour 20 Black Edition, and Contour i series. Sales of the Dynaudio Legend in Europe will begin in mid-June, with a recommended retail price of 6,000 euros per pair.
