Danish acoustic brand Børresen Acoustics, part of Audio Group Denmark, has introduced the floorstanding speakers Børresen M2. Despite its compact dimensions, the model achieves excellent sound quality and offers a whole range of proprietary innovative developments (from a new speaker design to revolutionary methods of resonance damping). The Børresen M2 loudspeakers use drivers with 3D-printed zirconium baskets, which ensure maximum rigidity and, therefore, minimal vibrations. The topologically optimized zirconium basket perfectly combats system noise and controls system resonances.
The midrange and woofer diffusers of the Børresen M-series loudspeakers are designed to provide maximum rigidity with a minimum level of distortion. The technological requirements for these diffusers required designing, developing and assembling all components in-house. The chief developer Michael Børresen and his team managed to create new diffusers consisting of four layers laminated into a single unit: two layers of carbon fiber, a layer of aramid honeycomb spacers between them and a titanium layer with Ansuz Supreme coating. The combination of all these materials gives unique properties - for example, carbon provides the necessary rigidity in various directions (eliminating resonances above 8 kHz, while the driver system itself works at bass and mid frequencies up to 2.5 kHz). And aramid honeycomb has the best ratio of rigidity to weight in the vertical direction. Titanium also has ideal resonance control properties and maintains the natural sound of the speaker. The Ansuz Supreme coating additionally optimizes the acoustic properties of the diffuser. This coating is applied to the titanium shell using a Hi-PIMS (High Power Pulsed Magnetron Sputtering) machine to create the thinnest and most uniform zirconium layer, followed by a layer of tungsten and a final layer of aluminum nitride and chromium.
The Børresen M2 loudspeakers are equipped with three 5” IronFree5 zirconium drivers, which cover the bass and midrange. Børresen uses iron-free magnet systems in all its loudspeakers, with an inductance approximately ten times lower than that of conventional drivers. This exceptionally low inductance has now been reduced even further to an unprecedented level, approximately twelve times lower than that of conventional iron-based cores! Since silver has a conductivity that is 6-8% higher than copper, the copper pole rings have been replaced with hand-made silver rings made in-house. The RP94 ribbon planar tweeter has a sensitivity of 94 dB and, as mentioned, operates in the frequency range from 2.5 kHz. The moving membrane mass is 0.01 grams. The tweeter's high reliability allows it to handle peak levels without distortion.
The Børresen M2 speakers are available in black and white piano lacquer finishes with a recommended retail price of 175,000 euros.

D&A (Digi & Aesth) has introduced a relatively inexpensive ($699) digital-to-analog converter with headphone amplifier D&A Alpha PRO. Alpha Pro was developed on the basis of the flagship ESS Technology ES9039MSPRO chip, it supports signals up to PCM 32/768, DSD512 and hardware decodes MQA.
Cyrus Audio has officially unveiled the Cyrus 40 PPA phono preamplifier – the model has been previously demonstrated at exhibitions and is now available for sale at a suggested retail price of €2,499 or $2,899.
Cambridge Audio has released an improved version of its famous network integrated amplifier – this month the Cambridge Audio EVO 150 SE will go on sale. The device uses Class D amplification based on NCOREx “Tuned by Cambridge” modules and delivers 2 x 150 watts to 8 ohm speakers. The amplifier is equipped with a built-in digital-to-analog converter based on the advanced ESS Technology Sabre ES9018K2M chip.
Bluesound has introduced a new generation of the Bluesound Powernode network integrated amplifier. The model now uses gallium nitride (GaN) amplification technology and is equipped with three amplification channels for the center speaker in home theater mode. At the same time, the Bluesound Powernode can operate in traditional stereo mode – then the power will be 2 x 100 watts, and when switching to three-channel mode – 80 watts.
STAX has introduced a new generation of its iconic SR-007 model, STAX SR-007S electrostatic headphones. Available to order from June 30, 2025 for $2,200 the STAX SR-007S continue the lineage started back in 1998 and evolve with modern improvements in design and sound.
