Audiovector Introduces the R 5 Arreté Floorstanding Loudspeakers

Danish company Audiovector has expanded its R Series lineup with the new R 5 Arreté floorstanding loudspeakers. The model was developed over approximately five years, with engineers carrying out more than 2,000 hours of listening sessions during the tuning stage. The new product sits between the R 3 and R 6 Arreté models, while becoming the first loudspeaker system in the R Series to use technologies derived directly from the flagship Audiovector R 10 Arreté.

The Audiovector R 5 Arreté was designed, engineered, and is hand-assembled in Denmark. According to the manufacturer, this model is intended to bring some of the technologies from Audiovector’s higher-end systems into a more accessible format, while preserving the brand’s signature approach to precision, speed, and spatial sound reproduction.

The new model features a 3.5-way configuration and uses a bass-reflex design with a downward-firing port. The low-frequency range is handled by two bass drivers with different roles: one reproduces the full bass range, while the other focuses on the lowest frequencies. This distribution of workload helps reduce the influence of the bass section on the midrange, keeping it cleaner and more articulate.

For the upper frequency range, the R 5 Arreté is equipped with a new Air Motion Transformer ribbon tweeter. Its operating range is specified from 2.8 kHz to 53 kHz. The manufacturer emphasizes fast response, precise attack reproduction, and high-frequency detail.

The design incorporates a set of proprietary Audiovector technologies. These include Accelerated Force Concept and Low Compression Concept, aimed at reducing driver inertia and lowering air pressure behind the diaphragm. The second-generation Freedom Grounding system is also used, designed to reduce unwanted electrical noise by draining parasitic currents to ground.

In addition, the loudspeaker features three-position damping adjustment, allowing the speakers to be matched with different amplifiers. Another technology, Soundstage Enhancement Concept, controls rear radiation and affects the formation of the soundstage, including its width and depth.

The R 5 Arreté crossover is fitted with cryogenically treated capacitors. The new Arreté base features integrated spikes and a mechanical decoupling system designed to minimize resonances. The cabinet is made from high-density wood and finished by hand.

The Audiovector R 5 Arreté loudspeaker systems will be offered in Black Piano, White Silk, African Mahogany Piano, and Italian Walnut finishes. A black fabric protective grille is included as standard. In addition, the company offers a wide range of custom gloss finishes on request.

The recommended retail price of the Audiovector R 5 Arreté loudspeaker systems is $24,500 or €19,950 per pair.
