For its 140th anniversary, the company decided to release a special version of the Thorens TD 124 DD model. The main noticeable improvement was the appearance of a two-layer disc, in which a five-millimeter layer of pure copper was added to a solid aluminum base. This solution not only made the disc more massive, but also allowed it to better combat vibrations - resonances of layers made of two different metals are mutually damped.
The Thorens TD1600 turntable implements the concept of the early Thorens 160 series models with a sub-chassis with three conical springs. The platter is driven by a belt, and the drive is equipped with an electronic motor control system. In addition to the unbalanced output on RCA connectors, a balanced output on XLR connectors is also offered.
Updated classic SoundWall model adopts the radical concept of its predecessor, and offers "Dipole meets D’Appolito" in the mid-high range scheme with total 12x bass, 2x midrange drivers, 2x tweeters, and can handle 300 W of power.
Like its predecessor in 1965, the new Thorens TD 1500 offers a sub-chassis that decouples the turntable and tonearm by means of three conical springs. The electronically monitoring speed system of the DC motor is guarantees exellent spin stability.
