The Thorens TD1600 turntable implements the concept of the early Thorens 160 series models with a sub-chassis with three conical springs. The platter is driven by a belt, and the drive is equipped with an electronic motor control system.     For its 140th anniversary, the company decided to release a special version of the Thorens TD 124 DD model. The main noticeable improvement was the appearance of a two-layer disc, in which a five-millimeter layer of pure copper was added to a solid aluminum base. This solution not only made the disc more massive, but also allowed it to better combat vibrations - resonances of layers made of two different metals are mutually damped.
