The LN05A is the powered version of the Elara LN05 tower from Triangle, the French speaker company based in Soissons. It turns the slim passive design into a complete system with its own amplification, digital inputs, Bluetooth and a phono stage, so a turntable, TV or phone can be connected without separate electronics. A 2022 Edition introduced Chestnut and Light Oak wood finishes. Triangle suggests the pair for rooms of 15 to 40 m2.

Key specs that matter

Each tower carries three drivers in a 2.5-way bass reflex design - a 25 mm EFS silk dome tweeter and two 13 cm paper cones, split between midrange and bass duty. Frequency response is 47 Hz to 22 kHz within 3 dB. A Class D module delivers 2 x 80 W RMS. Inputs cover Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, an RCA input with a switchable MM phono stage, a 3.5 mm mini-jack, plus optical and coaxial digital, and an RCA output feeds a subwoofer. Each tower measures 165 mm wide, 921 mm high and 263 mm deep. The master speaker weighs 14.4 kg and the slave 13.4 kg, and current finishes are Light Oak, Chestnut and Black Ash.

Engineering and use context

The system works on a master and slave principle. All electronics sit in one tower, which powers its partner through an ordinary loudspeaker cable, and a 5 m length is supplied for that link, so only the master needs mains power. The cabinet is pressed MDF with 18 mm side walls, a 21 mm front panel and internal stiffening ribs. The reflex port faces forward and uses a long channel of about 3 cm diameter to reduce air turbulence. The two paper cones have a concave profile and share the low band, while the upper cone alone carries on through the midrange until the crossover to the dome, the usual division of labour in a 2.5-way crossover. A built-in DAC handles the optical and coaxial feeds. The rear panel holds a volume control, and a status light shows red in standby, blue on Bluetooth and green for wired inputs. The supplied infrared remote also adjusts frequency settings. Magnetic grilles, bases, metal spikes and rubber pads are packed with each pair.

Pairing

An MM-equipped turntable connects directly into the switchable RCA input, a TV connects over optical, and phones send music wirelessly using aptX. Where deeper bass is wanted, the subwoofer output lets an active sub fill in below the bass limit of the towers.

Alternatives

The Triangle Elara LN05 is the passive tower on which the LN05A is based, with the same driver layout and 90 dB sensitivity.
