The Signature Delta is the more compact of two floorstanding models in Triangle's Signature range, positioned below the Alpha and above the Theta standmount. Like the rest of the series it draws on technology from the Magellan line and is built entirely at the Triangle workshop in Soissons, France, using real wood veneers. The maker specifies it for listening rooms between 15 and 50 m2.
Key specs that matter
Four drivers are split across three ways, and a bass reflex port fires from the front. A horn-loaded 25 mm titanium dome tweeter takes over from the midrange at 2,750 Hz, and a 16.5 cm paper-cone midrange works down to 280 Hz, below which two 16.5 cm glass fibre woofers handle the bass. Bandwidth is 35 Hz to 22,000 Hz within 3 dB and sensitivity is 92 dB/W/m. Impedance is 8 ohm nominal and falls to 3.2 ohm at its lowest. Continuous power handling is 120 W, repetitive peak power is 240 W, and Triangle names 60 to 300 W into 8 ohm as the amplifier window. Each speaker measures 233 mm wide, 1,170 mm high and 372 mm deep, or 340 x 1,230 x 372 mm on the pedestal, and weighs 33 kg.
Engineering and use context
Each woofer sits in its own separate enclosure within the cabinet, and Triangle's patented twin vent combines the rear output of both chambers into one front port. Cabinet walls are made from seven 3 mm layers of high-density fibreboard, pressed together to a total of 21 mm, while the front panel is thickened to 25 mm. The top surface is bevelled at 5 degrees. The midrange cone rides on a small pleated surround, a suspension type chosen for short cone travel. Finishing involves seven to ten coats of lacquer with polishing between them, and the Delta is available in Golden Oak, Mahogany, black or white high-gloss lacquer. At the factory each driver is measured individually so that matched units go into a pair, and completed speakers are tested in an anechoic chamber. A double set of binding posts supports bi-wiring or bi-amplification. Accessories in the box are a magnetic grille, steel spikes for carpet and rubber tips for rigid floors.
Pairing
Its high sensitivity allows the Delta to reach normal levels on modest amplifier power, though its impedance minimum favours amplifiers that cope with such loads without strain. Two stereo amplifiers can be split between the woofer section and the upper drivers through the dual terminals, and the Signature centre and Theta standmount complete a matching home cinema set.
Alternatives
The Triangle Signature Alpha is the larger tower in the same series, with three woofers, a 32 Hz lower limit and a 500 W upper amplifier recommendation.
