The C2 is a floorstanding loudspeaker built in Denmark by Børresen Acoustics, a member of Audio Group Denmark. It was designed by Michael Børresen together with Flemming Erik Rasmussen and introduced alongside the larger C3, which shares its DCC5 Neo and RP94 drivers, to fill the space between the O-series and the X-series.
Key specs that matter
Rated frequency range is 35 Hz to 50 kHz, with 88 dB sensitivity and a 6 ohm impedance, and the maker calls for amplification of more than 50 W. The cabinet is 1135 mm high, 380 mm wide and 440 mm deep, and one speaker weighs 43.8 kg. The driver set is one RP94 ribbon planar tweeter, one 5 inch DCC5 Neo bass and midrange driver and two DCC5 Neo bass drivers. Buyers pick high-gloss black or white lacquer, both with carbon fibre accents.
Engineering and use context
The DCC5 Neo uses neodymium magnets, and its motor carries double copper caps to reduce electromagnetic resonance. Its three-part cone wraps carbon fibre skins around an aramid honeycomb, a build aimed at suppressing membrane vibration, and the cabinet walls combine reinforced wood composite with carbon fibre. The RP94 ribbon tweeter has 94 dB efficiency, a moving mass of 0.01 grams and cryogenic treatment for better conductivity, and it covers the range from 2.5 kHz upward. A serial crossover gives the drivers a phase-locked current flow in the filter region, which Børresen presents as a more coherent filter. The cabinet is built from thick self-damping hardwood laminates with 1 mm carbon fibre side panels, 5 mm internal block-milled supports and Ansuz Darkz resonance control, and the midrange drivers work in semi-open chambers. Wiring inside is by Ansuz, and the speaker carries Tesla coil noise cancellation and third-generation analog dither technology from that sister brand. The manufacturer backs the C2 with a full five-year warranty covering faulty materials or workmanship.
Pairing
The C2 has bi-wiring terminals and can be bi-amped, feeding its bass drivers and its upper section from separate channels. It is also compatible with the active crossovers of sister brand Aavik, and at launch it was offered across Europe. The moderate load and good sensitivity suit many solid-state amplifiers with some power in reserve.
Alternatives
The Børresen C3 is the taller floorstanding model of the same series, standing 1415 mm high with a quoted 25 Hz lower limit.
