The T5 is a floorstanding model of the three-model T-series made by Børresen Acoustics, a Danish speaker maker belonging to Audio Group Denmark, which also owns Ansuz and Aavik. Launched in March 2025, the T-series took over from the 0-series and comes in standard and Silver Supreme Edition versions. The recommended European price of the standard T5 is EUR 130,000 per pair, against EUR 200,000 for the SSE, and the US price is USD 150,000.
Key specs that matter
Seven drivers are mounted on each cabinet. An RP94 ribbon planar tweeter sits between two 5 inch IronFree5 midrange and bass units, while four 8 inch IronFree8 woofers cover the bass, three of them at the foot of the baffle and one at the very top. Børresen quotes a response of 25 Hz to 50 kHz, a sensitivity of 88 dB at 1 W and a nominal impedance of 6 ohm, and recommends amplifiers of more than 50 W. Each speaker stands 164.6 cm tall, 36 cm wide and 75.8 cm deep. Two finishes are listed - walnut veneer under high-gloss lacquer, or black lacquer with the same gloss.
Engineering and use context
Instead of an iron core, every driver has a patented motor built from four N52 neodymium rings in a mirror-image alignment, with copper pole rings that in the standard T5 are cryogenically treated. This construction lowers inductance by roughly a factor of ten to twelve compared with iron-based drivers. All T-series drivers are held in titanium baskets shaped by finite element methods so that air pushed backward by the diaphragm flows freely, and this material gives the range its letter. Cones are laminated from three layers, with a honeycomb of aramid sandwiched by two skins of spread tow carbon fibre, with graphene and boron whiskers added for stiffness. The ribbon tweeter has a moving mass of 0.01 g and needs no transformer. The crossover is a serial network using foil coils wound with paper insulation and arrays of small military-spec stack-foil capacitors, and internal wiring comes from Ansuz. Block-milled hardwood bracing plus carbon fibre reinforcement stiffens the enclosure, and a rear venting system relieves pressure behind the drivers. Darkz T2 resonance control devices are part of the standard package.
Pairing
The T5 accepts bi-wiring and bi-amping, so owners can drive its bass and upper sections from separate amplifier channels. Amplifiers well above the recommended minimum give the four woofers the current they need.
Alternatives
The Børresen T3 is the more compact floor-standing model in this series, with fewer drivers and a higher bass limit.
