The Børresen T3 is a floorstanding loudspeaker from the Danish company Børresen Acoustics, part of Audio Group Denmark. It belongs to the T-series, which replaced the earlier 0-series in March 2025 and brings technology from the high-end M-series to a lower price level. The series holds three models, the T1, T3 and T5, each offered in a standard version and a Silver Supreme Edition, and the standard T3 was listed at EUR 65,000 per pair at launch.
Key specs that matter
Børresen lists a range of 30 Hz to 50 kHz, with a 6 ohm impedance and a sensitivity of 86 dB at 1 W. Børresen recommends amplifiers of more than 50 W. The cabinet measures 120.4 x 28.2 x 51.2 cm (H x W x D). Driver complement is one RP94 ribbon planar tweeter, one 5 inch IronFree5 bass and midrange unit and two further 5 inch IronFree5 bass units. Buyers choose between black high-gloss lacquer and walnut wood veneer, and the cabinet design mixes lacquer, carbon and wood surfaces.
Engineering and use context
According to Børresen, the T3 carries scaled-down versions of technology from its O-series and M-series models. The IronFree5 drivers use a patented motor in which four N52 neodymium rings are placed in a mirrored alignment, replacing the usual iron core. Copper pole rings in the standard version resist flux changes. Each membrane is laminated from three layers, a honeycomb of aramid sandwiched by spread tow carbon fibre, and graphene and boron whiskers are added to the resin to raise stiffness and reduce noise. The RP94 ribbon works from about 2.5 kHz upward, has an efficiency of 94 dB and a moving mass of only 0.01 grams. The loudspeaker is handcrafted in Denmark, and its metal parts are cryogenically treated to improve conductivity and strength. All T-series models use serial crossover networks that give the drivers a consistent current flow, and the internal wiring is Ansuz Gold Signature cable built around a Tesla coil principle intended to suppress noise.
Pairing
With terminals for bi-wiring, the T3 can also be bi-amped, so woofers and upper drivers each receive their own amplifier channel. The modest power recommendation and moderate impedance leave a broad choice of solid-state integrated amplifiers or separate power amplifiers, including those from sister brand Aavik within Audio Group Denmark.
Alternatives
Within the same T-series, Børresen also offers the bigger T5 tower.
