The Børresen T5 Silver Supreme Edition is a floorstanding model of the T-series, made in Denmark by Børresen Acoustics under the Audio Group Denmark umbrella. This series launched in March 2025, took over from the 0-series and transfers technology from the M-series into a lower price bracket. The T5 SSE was announced at EUR 200,000 per pair, while the standard T5 was listed at EUR 130,000.
Key specs that matter
Børresen gives a frequency range of 25 Hz to 50 kHz, a sensitivity of 88 dB at 1 W and a 6 ohm impedance, and recommends more than 50 W of amplifier power. Dimensions are 164.6 cm high, 36 cm wide and 75.8 cm deep. Seven drivers are fitted - an RP94 ribbon planar tweeter, two 5 inch IronFree5 Titanium SSE bass and midrange units and four 8 inch IronFree8 SSE woofers. Three of the 8 inch units sit at the bottom of the front baffle and the fourth is placed at the top of it. The cabinet combines high-gloss lacquer with real wood veneers. The three-layer membranes pair an aramid honeycomb with spread tow carbon fibre skins, and graphene and boron whiskers strengthen the epoxy that binds the fibres.
Engineering and use context
Børresen uses a patented iron-free magnet motor to keep inductance far below that of a conventional driver. For this edition, silver rings replace copper pole rings, offering 6 to 8 percent better conductivity, and cryogenic treatment covers the rings, internal wiring, baskets and crossover coils. The IronFree5 units have titanium baskets shaped by finite element analysis so they do not block airflow behind the cone. The IronFree8 is a refined version of the 0-series woofer with a spread tow sandwich membrane similar to the M-series, minus its extra titanium skin. The tweeter runs from around 2.5 kHz and has a moving mass of 0.01 grams. The serial crossover uses foil coils with paper isolation and military-spec stack-foil capacitors. Block-milled hardwood braces and carbon fibre reinforce the cabinet, a rear venting system lets the drivers decompress, and Darkz T2 devices handle resonance control. Ansuz Gold Signature cable runs inside, using a Tesla coil design for noise suppression, supported by active square Tesla coils on the circuit boards and third-generation analog dither.
Pairing
Separate terminals let the woofers and the mid and high section be bi-amped with independent amplifiers. The modest power recommendation, moderate impedance and good sensitivity leave a wide field of solid-state amplifiers to choose from, and Audio Group Denmark sells amplification under its Aavik brand.
Alternatives
The Børresen T3 Silver Supreme Edition is a more compact tower of the same series and edition, built around smaller IronFree5 bass units.
