The Antal Ez is a three-way floorstander in Triangle's Esprit Ez series, the range from the French manufacturer that sits between its entry models and the Signature and Magellan lines. Triangle positions it for rooms of 15 to 50 m2, below the larger Australe Ez, and it carries the Ez generation's revised cellulose midrange, updated horn tweeter and fibreglass bass drivers.

Engineering and use context

Dividing the spectrum into three bands lets the cellulose midrange work without bass excursion, while the two bass drivers handle the low end. Their cones overlay textile material on fibreglass, an Esprit Ez change that raises membrane stiffness, and a new chassis dissipates voice-coil heat faster. The double ferrite magnets give the bass drivers stronger motors. The midrange cone profile, suspension and dust cap derive from the Magellan project. The tweeter is Triangle's titanium dome in a compression chamber with horn loading, a design that gives high efficiency and controlled directivity. The front-facing port lets the cabinet stand closer to a back wall than a design ported at the rear. A double terminal block allows bi-wiring and bi-amplification, and the pedestal takes steel spikes for carpet or rubber tips for hard floors. A magnetic grille is supplied, and the boxed weight is 31.5 kg.

Pairing

With its high sensitivity, the Antal Ez reaches high levels from moderate power, but its low impedance minimum calls for an amplifier with good current capability rather than a small low-power design. Integrated amplifiers specified into 4 ohms suit it best. For home cinema, the Voce Ez centre and Titus Ez stand-mounts share its tweeter and cellulose midrange.
