Inside, every channel gets its own discrete Class A/B module with a dual differential, high current circuit. Maximum consumption is 1,400 W, a figure Emotiva ties to full-power test signals driving every channel. Owners can start with three channels and expand or reconfigure later, with modules fitted by Emotiva at no charge when new modules are bought, or by an authorised service centre. The case is about 432 x 203 x 483 mm including feet or 178 mm high without them; its weight is about 17.7 kg, rising to about 20 kg in its 622 x 305 x 629 mm box. The front carries a standby button whose halo ring changes colour, plus one blue status LED per channel whose colour becomes red if protection trips, with a rear switch to disable them. Protection covers overtemperature, shorted speaker wiring and ground faults, and the amplifier is designed, assembled and tested in the USA with a 5-year warranty.

Pairing

Emotiva names an AV processor, a stereo preamp or an AV receiver with PRE OUT jacks as the source, so an existing receiver can hand its front stage to this unit. Each channel has both XLR and RCA inputs, selected by a rear toggle, and speakers attach to gold-plated five-way posts. Trigger in and out allow switching together with the rest of the rack, and loads should not drop below 4 ohm per channel. Signal to noise against 1 W is above 91 dB, while full-power bandwidth covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.1 dB.
