The BasX A2L+ is a slim two-channel power amplifier in Emotiva's BasX range, announced by Emotiva on 28 February 2025 with a list price of USD 349. It is the lower-powered stereo model beside the BasX A2+, and adds a gain control and pass-through outputs that make it suited to multi-room systems or to driving extra zones from one source.

Key specs that matter

Output is 50 W RMS per channel into 8 ohms with both channels driven, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at under 0.1% THD, and 90 W RMS per channel into 4 ohms at 1 kHz and under 1% THD. Power bandwidth is ±0.07 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and the frequency response runs from 10 Hz to 80 kHz at +0/-1.8 dB. Input sensitivity is 1.2 V into 8 ohms, gain is 29 dB and adjustable down to 18 dB, and input impedance is 27 kohms. THD plus noise is below 0.02% A-weighted, noise is more than 112 dB down A-weighted, and damping factor into 8 ohms exceeds 500. Each channel has an RCA input and an RCA pass-through output. The case measures about 432 x 79 x 318 mm including feet, and weight is about 6.8 kg.

Engineering and use context

Emotiva builds the A2L+ with Class A/B output devices and a linear supply built around an oversized toroid. The variable gain reduction control lowers gain across that range, so a source with a high output level, or a preamplifier that would otherwise be used near the bottom of its volume range, can be matched to the amplifier. The RCA pass-through outputs repeat the input signal, which lets several amplifiers be chained from one source for additional rooms or speaker pairs. Signal-sense auto-on switches the amplifier on when audio arrives, and a 5 to 12 V trigger input with a 12 V output offers wired control from a preamp. Mains voltage of 115 or 230 V is selected automatically. Protection monitors temperature, shorted outputs and ground faults, and the loudspeaker terminals are 5-way binding posts. The steel chassis carries a milled aluminium fascia, and the warranty lasts three years.

Its output into low impedances suits bookshelf and small floorstanding speakers of average sensitivity. With its low height it fits into shelving under a streamer or TV, and a streamer with its own volume control connected to the RCA inputs forms a two-box system.
