Lumin has announced the flagship Lumin X2 audio streamer, featuring a fully discrete digital-to-analog converter (DAC), proprietary signal filtering, and an external linear power supply.

The Lumin X2's signature feature is its discrete DAC architecture, which allows for direct clocking and operation without intermediate frequency dividers, ensuring precise synchronization and minimizing jitter. The Lumin X2 supports signals up to PCM 32/768 and DSD 512. All digital processing and DAC filters are designed specifically for this model and are controlled by two ultra-high-speed FPGAs operating in a fully discrete architecture. Upscaling is also supported, with the option to convert PCM and DSD to DSD 256.

The streamer's power supply is housed in a separate enclosure and uses a toroidal power transformer, with separate power lines for the digital and analog circuits. The analog circuits are powered using a dual-mono design for maximum channel separation. The Lumin X2 streamer supports both twisted-pair and optical networks, features an SFP connector with galvanic isolation, and a built-in network switch for connecting additional devices, such as NAS drives.

The balanced analog output stage uses two Lundahl output transformers. The streamer is equipped with a volume control based on LEEDH Processing, familiar from earlier Lumin models.
