Chord has expanded its GroundARAY and PowerARAY anti-noise systems ranges with the PhonoARAY, a filtering solution that allows virtual grounding of turntables to the phonopreamp or to the Phono input of an integrated amplifier.
The PhonoARAY features a hand-wound, ultra-high-current filter in series connecting both terminals, as well as ARAY’s complex system in parallel, creating a so-called double virtual earth system for both the turntable and the phonopreamp. This combination effectively protects music signals from external interference.
The PhonoARAY is connected via two 4 mm terminals that support banana and spade connectors. The PhonoARAY is connected between the turntable (or tonearm) earth terminal and the phono preamplifier earth terminal (or phono input of an amplifier) using special shielded earth cables with spade connectors. The Chord PhonoARAY can be used in a variety of turntable, phonopreamplifier and amplifier configurations, including turntables with or without built-in phono preamplifiers. In systems with external phonopreamplifiers, a second PhonoARAY can also be added.
The resin filling of the Chord PhonoARAY further reduces microphonic effects. The Chord PhonoARAY has a recommended retail price of £1,000 in the UK. A 0.5m Chord Clearway earth cable is supplied.
