The $250-$2,500 integrated amplifier segment represents high-fidelity audio's most fiercely competitive battleground. At this price point, you're not compromising on genuine sonic excellence - you're simply choosing which performance priorities matter most to your system and listening preferences.

There's a particular kind of madness that sets in when you start shopping for an integrated amplifier between three and seven thousand dollars. Below this range, compromises are obvious and expected - you're choosing which corner to cut. Above it, you're in statement territory where the law of diminishing returns applies but the equipment is unambiguously excellent. But here, in this messy middle, is where the real arguments happen.

Rotel DX-5 is a compact model, but despite its dimensions, the device does not use digital amplification and operates in class A/B, reaching 2 x 33 W into 4 Ohm load and 2 x 25 W into 8 Ohm speakers. The new product is equipped with a power supply based on a powerful toroidal transformer created by Rotel itself, and high-current transistors.

For the first time in its 60-year history, Rotel has released a headphone amplifier – the model is called Rotel DX-3 and will be available at the end of March 2025 for $1,499 / €1,499. The amplifier can operate with a wired connection of headphones, both in analog and digital versions (there is an unbalanced 6.35 mm jack on board, as well as a Pentaconn 4.4 mm for a balanced connection).
