The AT-LP60XBT-USB is the version of the automatic LP60X turntable from Audio-Technica, adding a USB audio port to the Bluetooth transmitter of the AT-LP60XBT. It was announced at USD 179 in a black finish. The USB link turns records into digital files on a computer with whatever recording software the owner prefers, while the analogue and wireless outputs remain available for everyday playback.
Key specs that matter
The USB interface is USB 2.0 compliant and carries both A/D and D/A conversion at 16 bit, with the sample rate selectable between 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. Wireless audio travels over Bluetooth 5.0 using the Qualcomm aptX codec across roughly 10 m. Drive is by belt from a DC servo-controlled motor, at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. Audio-Technica rates wow and flutter at less than 0.25 percent (WTD) at 3 kHz and signal-to-noise at over 50 dB (DIN-B). A dual moving magnet cartridge comes fitted, and its replacement diamond stylus is the ATN3600L. The RIAA-equalised preamp adds 36 dB of gain and can be bypassed with a switch that selects phono or line level at the RCA jacks. Dimensions are 359.5 x 97.5 x 373.3 mm, and the player weighs 2.6 kg.
Engineering and use context
The platter is an anti-resonance die-cast aluminium part, precision machined to resist vibration and covered with a felt mat. The tonearm base and headshell were redesigned for the LP60X generation. An external 12 V AC adapter supplies the unit, which keeps the transformer out of the plinth. Having three outputs in one chassis means the analogue RCA pair can stay wired to a stereo system while the USB cable goes to a laptop for archiving, and the Bluetooth link serves headphones or a portable speaker. Because the arm lifts and returns by itself at the end of a side, a recording session does not require the owner to stand by the player to raise the arm. The box includes RCA audio cables, a USB cable, a 45 rpm adapter and a removable dust cover.
Pairing
For recording, a computer with a free USB port and any audio capture program is sufficient, since Audio-Technica leaves the choice of software to the user. Wired playback works with an amplifier phono input or, with the preamp engaged, with powered speakers. Wireless playback needs a Bluetooth receiver, and aptX-capable models use the higher-quality codec.
Alternatives
The AT-LP60XBT offers the same automatic mechanism and aptX Bluetooth transmitter without the USB recording port, in black or white and black.
