The AT-LP60XBT takes the automatic belt-drive LP60X platform from Audio-Technica and adds a Bluetooth transmitter, so the player can send audio to wireless speakers or headphones as well as over a cable. It was designed in Tokyo, and in the UK it launched at a suggested price of GBP 179, or EUR 199 in the eurozone. Two finishes were listed at launch - all black as AT-LP60XBT-BK and a white and black version as AT-LP60XBT-WH. The wired analogue path stays available, so the same unit can feed a conventional stereo system.

Key specs that matter

The wireless section follows Bluetooth version 5.0 at Power Class 2, which gives an operating range of about 10 m in line of sight. It uses the A2DP profile and transmits with either SBC or Qualcomm aptX, handled by a CSR chipset. On the mechanical side, a belt from a DC servo motor spins an aluminium platter at 33 1/3 or 45 rpm, with wow and flutter under 0.25 percent (WTD, JIS) at 3 kHz, with signal-to-noise beyond 50 dB (DIN-B). The pickup is an integral Dual Moving Magnet cartridge whose diamond stylus is replaced with the ATN3600L part. Output from the switchable preamp is 2.5 mV nominal in PHONO mode and 150 mV in LINE mode, with 36 dB of RIAA gain. Power consumption is 3 W, and the chassis is 359.5 mm wide, 97.5 mm tall and 373.3 mm deep at a weight of 2.6 kg.

Engineering and use context

Audio-Technica lists improved tracking and reduced resonance among the changes made for the LP60X generation, and this model inherits them. The turntable pairs directly with the receiving speaker or headphones, with no phone in the chain. Audio-Technica specified aptX because it applies lower compression than the standard SBC codec, although the receiving device has to support aptX for that advantage to apply. Record handling stays automatic from the start of a side to the return of the arm. The box contains a cable with a 3.5 mm male mini-plug on one end and two male RCA plugs on the other, an adapter for 45 rpm singles and a removable hinged lid.

Pairing

Any Bluetooth speaker or pair of wireless headphones with A2DP can receive the signal, and aptX devices get the better codec. For wired use the internal preamp in LINE mode matches a powered speaker pair or an amplifier AUX input, while PHONO mode hands the raw cartridge signal to an MM phono stage. Mains requirements are 115 or 230 V at 60 or 50 Hz.
