The Overture O305F was the largest of the three towers in the original line-up of Overture MK3, the third-generation entry series from AudioSolutions, before the bigger O306F was announced in April 2023. Compared with the O304F below it, the O305F uses larger woofers and a deeper, wider cabinet. The MK3 generation brought a new enclosure, new drivers and a revised crossover structure over the MK2 edition, and the O305F carried a price of EUR 4,200 at its announcement.
Key specs that matter
Three frequency bands are served by a 2.5 cm silk dome tweeter, one 15.2 cm ER paper midrange cone and twin 18.3 cm bass units using the same ER paper. Crossover frequencies are 500 Hz and 3,000 Hz. AudioSolutions specifies an in-room response of 33 Hz to 26,000 Hz and a sensitivity of 91 dB at 2.83 V, 1 m. Impedance is 4 ohms nominal. The power rating is 160 W RMS nominal and 320 W maximum unclipped. The cabinet is 1,110 mm high, 250 mm wide and 390 mm deep, with the width growing to 421 mm at the feet. A single speaker weighs 39 kg, and 43 kg with packaging.
Engineering and use context
The O305F is built around the new Sectional-Box-in-a-Box enclosure, a design the company took from its Virtuoso line. Two intersecting cabinets are used - a light inner box inside a heavy outer box - with a polyurethane layer filling the gap as a damper. The maker describes the result as very stiff yet well damped, and says the construction transfers energy fast enough to stop oscillations from lasting. On the tweeter, a mini horn provides proportional damping at the frequencies where the dome begins to flex, and the effect becomes stronger as playback gets louder. The mid and bass cones use the ER paper material first developed for the Figaro range. Bass is vented through a high-flow port finished with a rounded flange, and the phase-linear crossover pairs coreless copper inductors with a thick copper PCB. Carpet-piercing spikes screw into M6 threads and are supplied with caps for hard floors, while the heavy frosted satin silver binding posts take high-end cable terminations. Two gloss colours, black and white, are standard, and wood textures in Oak, Mahogany and Wenge are extra-cost options.
Pairing
The low nominal impedance points to an amplifier with published output into that load, and the RMS figure shows the continuous power the O305F is designed to handle.
Alternatives
The AudioSolutions Overture O306F is the larger tower in the series, with 23 cm woofers, a 29 Hz lower limit and a 70 kg cabinet.
