The Vantage M is the middle-sized floorstander in the Vantage 5th Anniversary range, the top series of AudioSolutions in Lithuania, created for the company's fifth anniversary with the stated aim of avoiding classical looks and classical technical decisions. Every size in the range is built to the same philosophy of equal scale but aimed at a particular use. The B targets short listening distances and the S normal distances in smaller rooms, while the M is intended for everyday rooms of 30 to 100 m2, or larger ones with acoustic treatment.

Key specs that matter

Its four-way layout uses five drivers in each enclosure. A customised 2.5 cm beryllium dome tweeter works above a 17 cm wideband midrange cut from Egyptian papyrus, and two front-firing 18 cm SPC paper bass drivers support a 26 cm aluminium woofer aimed at the floor. The filter splits the band at 50 Hz, 200 Hz and 8,000 Hz. In-room response is rated from 21 Hz to 30,000 Hz, sensitivity is 92 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and the nominal impedance is 4 ohm. The cabinet stands 1,421 mm tall, 460 mm wide and 650 mm deep, and each speaker weighs 75 kg.

Engineering and use context

The Vantage cabinets were designed to be much stiffer than any earlier AudioSolutions model. The inner labyrinth, both sidewalls and the curved top panel are cut from Siberian birch plywood, and the maker notes that this slow-growing birch is denser and tighter than the common kind, giving the enclosure properties it rates above aluminium. Software modelling shaped the surfaces to avoid resonance, and stress left in the bent plywood helps damp vibration. A mini horn around the tweeter, a feature used across the brand, lowers distortion and raises efficiency in a critical region. AudioSolutions says the M looks and feels smaller in a room than its size suggests because of its shaping. The top coat mixes lacquer with crushed stone powder, the back is dressed in black 3D hexa-textured vinyl that passed damage tests against veneer, leather and paint, and hexa-style feet covers match the outlines. The base colour is wet stone grey, with outline colours chosen to order.

Pairing

The recommended amplifier range is 50 to 500 W RMS, and the maker lists the enclosure as having been designed around the fresh wideband midrange, supported by the beryllium tweeter. WBT terminals allow tri-wiring, so separate cable runs can reach each section of the crossover.

Alternatives

The larger Vantage L carries a 32 cm down-firing woofer, two 22 cm bass drivers, a 19 cm midrange and a quoted low limit of 18 Hz.
