The Overture O304F is the middle floorstander of the Overture MK3 family, the third generation of the AudioSolutions entry-level line. It sits between the two-way O303F and the larger O305F, and it is the smallest tower in the series to use a true three-way design with its own midrange driver. For MK3 the company redrew the cabinet, the drive units and the crossover of the previous MK2 model, and the O304F was listed at EUR 3,600 when the range was announced.
Key specs that matter
Inside the O304F are a 2.5 cm silk dome tweeter, a 15.2 cm ER paper cone mid-band unit and two woofers of the same 15.2 cm size and cone type. The crossover hands over at 500 Hz and 3,000 Hz. In-room response runs from 37 Hz to 26,000 Hz, and the rated sensitivity is 90 dB at 2.83 V over 1 m. The nominal impedance is 4 ohms, the nominal power figure is 120 W RMS, and the maximum unclipped rating is 240 W. Height is 990 mm, width 210 mm, rising to 357 mm across the feet, and depth 330 mm. The speaker weighs 27 kg, and 30 kg packed.
Engineering and use context
Because the woofers take the lowest band, the mid-band cone works only between the two crossover points, whereas in the MTM layout of the O303F the paired cones cover everything below the tweeter. The enclosure follows the Sectional-Box-in-a-Box principle that AudioSolutions adapted from its Virtuoso speakers, in which a heavy outer box surrounds a lightweight inner box and a polyurethane layer between the two absorbs panel energy. All AudioSolutions series use Mini Horn loading for the soft dome tweeter, a form of acoustic impedance that damps the dome more strongly as it approaches its flexing frequencies and that, according to the maker, raises sensitivity instead of limiting it. The ER cones take their lead from the Figaro series drivers. Low frequencies leave the cabinet through a high-flow port whose mouth has a rounded flange, and the crossover is phase-linear, with coreless coils on a thick copper board. The spike set uses M6 threads and ships with protective caps for wooden floors, and the terminals are large frosted satin silver posts. Standard colours are Gloss Black and Gloss White, and Oak, Mahogany or Wenge textures cost extra.
Pairing
Because of its low nominal load, the O304F is best matched with an amplifier rated for that load, and its RMS rating indicates the continuous level the design is meant to take.
Alternatives
The AudioSolutions Overture O305F is the next tower up, with 18.3 cm woofers, a 33 Hz lower limit and a 1,110 mm cabinet.
