The M30.2 is the three-way floorstander of the three-model M Series from Scansonic HD, a Danish maker whose loudspeakers come from the same Denmark-based team that builds Raidho speakers. The range launched in April 2025 with the M15.2 standmount, the M20.2 floorstander and this three-way tower, and its announced European price was EUR 3,500 per pair. Two finishes are offered - silk black or silk white paint.
Key specs that matter
Scansonic quotes a response of 33 Hz to 30 kHz, a nominal impedance of 8 ohm with a 4 ohm minimum, and a sensitivity of 88 dB. The company recommends high quality amplifiers in the 50 to 200 W range. Each cabinet measures 240 mm wide, 1085 mm high and 380 mm deep and weighs 25 kg. The driver complement comprises a neodymium ribbon tweeter with a Kapton diaphragm of 71.5 x 44.5 mm, a 4-inch midrange with a honeycomb cone, and a pair of 6.5-inch woofers that also use honeycomb cones. Two passive radiators with paper cones are mounted on the rear panel. A second-order crossover hands over at 600 Hz and 3.5 kHz.
Engineering and use context
Low-frequency loading is handled by the rear passive radiators rather than a reflex port, so the enclosure has no port opening and no air noise from a tube at high output. The radiators are unpowered diaphragms that move with the internal air pressure generated by the two woofers, and Scansonic uses them to extend the bass from drivers of this size. The three-way split lets the small honeycomb midrange cover the middle band on its own, while the woofers stay below the lower crossover point and the ribbon covers everything above the upper one. Keeping the midrange out of the bass region means its short excursion is not burdened by low-frequency motion. Scansonic points to crossover parts of a grade normally used in more costly speakers, a point stressed at the launch of the series. Neodymium magnets allow the ribbon motor to stay compact while driving a diaphragm of this area, and the Kapton film gives a very light moving part compared with a conventional dome.
Pairing
The nominal load and its minimum are manageable for most solid-state integrated amplifiers, and the minimum Scansonic names means compact designs of that rating are within specification. More powerful amplifiers within the recommendation give extra headroom in larger rooms. A streamer, CD player or DAC with fixed line output feeding an integrated amplifier forms a complete system around these towers.
Alternatives
The Scansonic HD M20.2 is the smaller floorstanding model in the same M Series and shares the ribbon tweeter approach in a more compact tower.
