The Figaro L2 is a large three-way floorstander in the second-generation Figaro series made by AudioSolutions in Vilnius, Lithuania. The first Figaro appeared in 2018, and five years later the company reworked the whole range, adding brass metal accents and satin colour options. In the current line the L2 sits above the M2 and below the XLm2 and XL2.

Key specs that matter

The L2 carries four drivers. A 19 mm silk dome tweeter covers the top, the middle goes to an 18.3 cm ER paper cone mid unit, and a pair of 23.3 cm ER paper cone woofers take the bass. Filter frequencies are 400 Hz and 4,000 Hz. In a room the maker measures 24 Hz to 25,000 Hz, sensitivity is 92 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and nominal impedance is 4.0 ohm. AudioSolutions suggests amplifiers of 20 W to 500 W. The bare cabinet is 1,240 mm tall, 336 mm wide and 581 mm deep, while the outriggers raise the height to 1,270 mm and the footprint width to 472 mm. Each speaker weighs 75 kg, and 82 kg in its crate.

Engineering and use context

With the mid unit covering the whole band between the two filter points, neither handover falls inside the 1 to 2 kHz band where the company says the ear picks out driver transitions most easily - each point lies roughly an octave outside it. ER means Extra Rigid - hard pulp and sturdy fibres are worked into the paper, visible as flakes on the cone, so that it moves as a piston yet avoids the ringing and early breakup of metal or ceramic cones. The tweeter sits in a shallow Mini-Horn that damps the silk dome where it begins to flex under high drive, and the same loading raises its efficiency. The enclosure follows the Cabinet-In-a-Cabinet method from the Virtuoso range - a light, stiff inner shell, a viscous polyurethane film about 0.1 mm thick, and a heavier outer shell that works as a mass damper. Panels lock into each other during assembly. For the second generation the crossover gained thicker air-core coils and a revised circuit board layout intended to cut crosstalk, and the old peg-mounted grilles gave way to magnetic ones. Outriggers carry height-adjustable spikes and are built to flex slightly so that they absorb energy. Connection is through WBT NextGen posts.

Pairing

The brand designed the Figaro range to be driven easily by most amplifiers and to work when positioned very close to the rear wall, so a 4 ohm capable amplifier anywhere inside the suggested power window will do.

The AudioSolutions Figaro XLm2 is the next floorstander up, using two 15.2 cm mids and four 18.3 cm woofers in a 95 kg, 8 ohm cabinet.
