The Figaro M2 is a mid-sized floorstanding speaker from AudioSolutions, the Lithuanian company based in Vilnius. It belongs to the second Figaro generation, which replaced the original 2018 series after a complete overhaul, and the M2 version made its debut at Munich High End 2023. Within the floorstanding part of the range it ranks above the S2 and under the L2, XLm2 and XL2. The customisation program linked to the series allows more than 500,000 possible combinations of this model.

Key specs that matter

The M2 uses four drivers in three ways. Treble comes from a 19 mm silk dome, midrange from a 15.2 cm unit with an Extra Rigid paper cone, and bass from two 18.3 cm drivers built with the same cone material. The crossover divides the band at 400 Hz and again at 4,000 Hz. AudioSolutions lists an in-room response of 30 Hz to 25,000 Hz, 91.5 dB sensitivity at 2.83 V and 1 m, and a nominal 4.0 ohm load, with a suggested amplifier range of 10 W to 300 W. Without outriggers the cabinet stands 1,108 mm high, 272 mm wide and 472 mm deep. The outriggers add 30 mm of height and widen the base to 396 mm. Net weight is 45 kg per side and shipping weight 49 kg.

Engineering and use context

AudioSolutions calls the midrange an Extended-Band driver. Keeping it active across more than three octaves moves both crossover points away from roughly 1,000 to 1,500 Hz, the zone the company treats as most critical for hearing, and so reduces how audible crossover distortion and phase shift become. The paper cones have hard pulp and fibre added so that they behave as stiff pistons without the resonant ringing of metal or ceramic diaphragms. A Mini-Horn around the tweeter loads the dome acoustically from the front, which limits breakup and axial wobble when the tweeter is pushed hard and also adds some efficiency. The Cabinet-In-a-Cabinet construction, taken from the higher Virtuoso series, bonds an inner and an outer enclosure with polyurethane, so vibration reaching the walls is turned into heat. Height-adjustable spikes screw into the outriggers, and the terminals are WBT NextGen, although the maker offers bi-amping only on the L and XL models. Three high-gloss colours are standard, and four Bespoke satin colours with brass trim cost extra.

Pairing

With its low suggested minimum power, the M2 can run from low-output amplifiers up to much stronger units, as long as they are rated for low-impedance loads, and the maker states that the speaker can stand very close to the wall behind it.
