The EPIKORE 9 is a four-way tower from DALI of Denmark, placed between the EPIKORE 7 and the larger EPIKORE 11 in a family that also includes the EPIKORE 3 stand-mount. It was announced in October 2024 together with the EPIKORE 7 and EPIKORE 3, and it borrows parts developed for the KORE. North American pricing is USD 40,000 per pair, against USD 60,000 for the EPIKORE 11 and USD 25,000 for the EPIKORE 7, and each speaker is built in Denmark.
Key specs that matter
Two 8 inch woofers and a 6.5 inch midrange work with a high-frequency assembly combining a 35 mm soft dome and a 10 x 55 mm planar magnetostatic element. The four-way network divides the signal at 400 Hz, 3,100 Hz and 12,500 Hz. Rated response is 29 Hz to 34,000 Hz within 3 dB, sensitivity is 88 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and nominal impedance is 4 ohm. The cabinet can deliver up to 112 dB at 1 m, and DALI suggests 40 to 500 W of amplifier power. Each unit measures 1310 x 422 x 554 mm and weighs 64 kg with its grille. High gloss black, walnut and maroon finishes are offered.
Engineering and use context
DALI names the treble assembly the EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter, the same module used in the KORE. The dome handles the band from 3.1 kHz, and the planar strip, driven by neodymium magnets, takes over above 12.5 kHz. The woofers carry second generation SMC magnet systems, shared with the EPIKORE 11, in which the pole piece is made of Soft Magnetic Composite to limit distortion from eddy currents and hysteresis. Cones for the woofers and midrange are made from paper and wood fibre with an embossed stiffening pattern, and titanium is used in the voice coil construction. The curved enclosure is formed from layers of bent and glued birch, finished with real wood veneer and piano-grade lacquer. Low-frequency loading comes from continuous-flare reflex ports on the rear with a tuning frequency of 27 Hz. The supplied spike feet sit on magnetic pads, and the grille attaches with magnets.
Pairing
The impedance falls to 3.6 ohm around 82 Hz, so the amplifier needs to stay stable with such a load and deliver ample current. Bi-wire terminals in a stacked layout take banana plugs, spades or bare wire, and jumpers are included for single-wire use. The wide recommended power band means both a large integrated amplifier and a stereo power amplifier with separate preamp are practical, and the North American warranty covers five years for parts and labour.
Alternatives
The DALI EPIKORE 11 is the bigger tower of the same range, placed above this model.
