The SONIK 5 is the entry floorstander of three in DALI's Danish SONIK line of seven speakers, the successor to OBERON, sold worldwide since 2 February 2026. It is priced at EUR 998, GBP 899, USD 1,800 or AUD 1,749 per pair. DALI describes it as a slim, compact floorstander for small to medium rooms, finished in Black Ash, Walnut, Natural Oak or White vinyl. The two larger towers are the SONIK 7 and SONIK 9, the latter at USD 4,500 per pair with three 7 inch woofers, a range reaching 34 Hz and 24.6 kg per cabinet.
Key specs that matter
Two 5.25 inch woofers work with a 29 mm low-loss soft dome tweeter in a two-way layout crossed over at 2,200 Hz. The frequency range is 39 Hz to 26,000 Hz within 3 dB, sensitivity is 88 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and nominal impedance is 6 ohm. Maximum output reaches 108 dB at 1 m, and DALI advises amplifier power of 30 to 150 W. The tower stands 826 mm tall with a depth of 270 mm, and each speaker weighs 10.8 kg.
Engineering and use context
Each woofer has a Clarity Cone, DALI's own mix of paper and wood fibre, and is driven by the SMC Essential magnet system, whose hybrid iron and Soft Magnetic Compound pole-piece lowers third-order distortion. A new low-mass dome tweeter designed for SONIK sits behind an aluminium faceplate that DALI credits with better bandwidth and thermal handling. The CNC-machined MDF cabinet has rigid internal bracing and is tuned to 43 Hz through a rear Dual-Flare reflex port designed to minimise turbulence. Aluminium outriggers with spikes support the base, grilles attach magnetically, and a single pair of proprietary terminals takes the speaker cable, with no bi-wire option.
Pairing
An undemanding load allows the SONIK 5 to work with a modest integrated or streaming amplifier. For home cinema, the series includes the SONIK CINEMA centre speaker with two woofers of the same size and the SONIK ON-WALL model for surrounds, which DALI specifies for mounting 0 to 10 cm from a wall and which also suits left, centre and right duty. The ON-WALL is rated at 87 dB with bass extension to 55 Hz and weighs 4.9 kg in a 385 x 245 x 123 mm enclosure, and the CINEMA reaches 46 Hz with 89.5 dB sensitivity, in a 170 x 571 x 214 mm cabinet weighing 7.9 kg.
Alternatives
The DALI SONIK 7 sits one step above in the SONIK tower line at USD 2,800 per pair, using two larger woofers and a hybrid tweeter with a planar magnetostatic element, with a range down to 36 Hz.
