The Sevens is an active stereo speaker pair from the Klipsch Heritage Wireless series, which pairs mid-century cabinet styling drawn from the work of company founder Paul W. Klipsch with modern streaming and digital inputs. It sits below The Nines, using a smaller woofer in a smaller box, and Klipsch describes it as a tabletop stereo system that works without an AV receiver. Finishes are walnut or black real wood veneer.

Key specs that matter

In each cabinet a 1 inch vented titanium LTS tweeter mounted on an edge-to-edge 90 x 90 degree Tractrix horn works with a 6.5 inch high-excursion woofer whose cone is a fiber composite. Built-in amplification delivers 80 W to each woofer and 20 W to each tweeter, adding up to 200 W total system power, or 400 W peak. Frequency response is rated at 39 Hz to 25 kHz within 3 dB, and maximum output reaches 112 dB at 1 m from the stereo pair. Digital decoding runs up to 192 kHz and 24 bit. Every cabinet is 415.9 mm high, 206.4 mm wide and 276.22 mm deep. The primary unit weighs 10.12 kg and the secondary 9.03 kg.

Engineering and use context

Woofer and tweeter each get their own amplifier channel, so the system is bi-amped, and digital signal processing with filtering sets the crossover between them. A Dynamic Bass EQ raises low-frequency output as volume falls, and Klipsch quotes bass extension to 28 Hz at 35 percent volume with it engaged. Both MDF cabinets are vented through a port on the back panel. Connections include HDMI-ARC with CEC, so a TV remote adjusts volume over a single cable, plus Bluetooth 5.0 carrying aptX HD, aptX, AAC or SBC streams, optical, USB, a 3.5 mm mini jack for analog sources and RCA sockets set by a switch to phono or line level, with a ground terminal beside it. An RCA line-level output is provided for a subwoofer. A left and right swap setting lets the primary speaker go on either side. The Klipsch Connect app adds EQ adjustment, a virtual remote, subwoofer settings and firmware updates. The internal power supply runs on 100 to 240 V, and the package holds a remote, a 1.5 m HDMI lead, a 1.5 m USB lead and a 4 m four-conductor speaker cable plus 2 m extension. Fabric grilles, metal controls and cork pads complete the build.

Pairing

A turntable, TV, computer or phone can be connected directly, so the only extra component most setups need is a source. The compact footprint suits a desk or sideboard, and a Klipsch powered sub adds the lowest octave for films.

Alternatives

The Klipsch The Nines is the larger Heritage Wireless pair, with 8 inch woofers, 240 W total system power and response down to 34 Hz.
