The Rebellion is the first bookshelf loudspeaker in the Klipsch Heritage family, launched for the company's 80th anniversary and first shown at the High End show in Vienna in June 2026. It revives the H8, a 1958 design by Paul W. Klipsch conceived as a more compact alternative to the Heresy, of which only 16 were built. Each pair is hand-built in Hope, Arkansas, with book-matched veneers cut from the same timber. The North American price is USD 2,599 per pair from July 2026, and the EMEA price USD 2,999 with deliveries from autumn 2026. Finishes are American Walnut and Black Ash, plus a limited Tigerwood edition for the anniversary.

Key specs that matter

This two-way design places a K-702 compression driver on a K-703 Tractrix horn above a new 8 inch K-81-EP woofer, with a 715 Hz crossover. Response is 60 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and 45 Hz to 21 kHz at the 10 dB down points. Sensitivity is 95 dB at 2.83 V, nominal impedance 8 ohm with a 3.3 ohm minimum, power handling 200 W and maximum continuous output 115 dB. Horn coverage is 90 degrees horizontally and 60 degrees vertically, each within 30 degrees, the vertical figure applying from 2.6 kHz to 20 kHz. Each speaker is 48.5 cm high, 30.5 cm wide and 24.4 cm deep and weighs 14.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

The horn carries Mumps, a patented Klipsch technology that the company applies to lower high-frequency distortion. Using a compression driver for the treble instead of a dome tweeter is what brings such high sensitivity from a cabinet of this size. The crossover point is low for a two-way speaker, so the horn covers most of the midrange and the woofer handles mainly bass and lower midrange. The enclosure is 18 mm MDF under real wood veneer, and a rear-firing port with a flared Tractrix profile is shaped to move air efficiently and reduce port noise. Two sets of 5-way terminals on the back let the owner bi-wire the woofer and horn sections or feed them from separate amplifiers. Magnetic black cloth grilles cover the front, and Klipsch gives the model a 10-year warranty.

Pairing

The high sensitivity and nominal impedance let modest amplifiers drive the Rebellion, while the impedance minimum is worth checking against the amplifier's stability. Klipsch designed its KS-24 stands, offered in 61 cm and 71 cm heights, to fit this model. Klipsch lists stereo listening and Heritage home cinema systems as the intended uses.

Alternatives

The Klipsch RP-600M II is a two-way bookshelf speaker from the Reference Premiere line with a 6.5 inch Cerametallic woofer and 94.5 dB sensitivity.
