The C91 II is the bookshelf model of the Concert 9 Series II from Jamo, the Danish brand, a passive two-way design in a very compact bass reflex cabinet. Jamo lists it at USD 499 per pair in Black Ash, and the series is styled with wood grain finishes, woven tweed grilles, satin-painted MDF baffles, chrome logos, aluminium trim rings and stabiliser feet.

Key specs that matter

One 100 mm woofer and one 25.4 mm positive dome tweeter are fitted to each cabinet. Jamo quotes a bandwidth of 65 Hz to 24 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, with the -6 dB point at 62 Hz. Sensitivity is 86 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance is 6 ohm, and power handling is 120 W rated with 200 W peak. Height, width and depth are 265 x 175 x 191 mm.

Engineering and use context

Jamo builds the woofer around its Hybrid Composition Conical Cone, abbreviated HCCC, a diaphragm with a conical profile. A Long Displacement Surround carries the cone, and in its centre a phase plug of aluminium takes the place of a conventional dust cap. On the tweeter side, an Anti-Diffraction Waveguide surrounds the dome, and a feature Jamo calls Tweeter Distortion Reduction, or TDR, is applied to the high-frequency unit. The enclosure follows the bass reflex principle, its port firing from the back panel, and a keyhole bracket on the back allows wall mounting. The tweed-covered grille attaches magnetically and can be taken off in front of the satin baffle, and the wood grain wrap covers the rest of the cabinet. The series also includes the C97 II floorstanding speaker, which shares the same styling elements, so the C91 II can serve as the rear pair in a larger build.

Pairing

Jamo recommends an amplifier delivering more than 50 W per channel. Any stereo integrated amplifier meeting that power figure can drive the pair, and an AV receiver is the usual choice when they serve as surround channels. Connection is through a single-wiring terminal with chrome plating, so a single cable run feeds each cabinet. Five-way binding posts serve as terminals and accept bananas, spades or stripped cable ends. Eight rubber feet and four rubber bumpers are supplied for use on a shelf or behind the speaker on a wall.
