The 4410A is the smallest model in Genelec's Smart IP family of networked installation loudspeakers, announced in March 2022 to join the 4420A and 4430A. Smart IP speakers take power, audio and control over a single Ethernet cable, and the 4410A applies this approach to a 3-inch two-way design intended for discreet placement in offices, retail spaces, hotels and homes.
Key specs that matter
A 76 mm (3-inch) cone woofer and a 19 mm metal dome tweeter are each driven by an 18 W Class D amplifier, with the crossover at 2.9 kHz. Response extends from 67 Hz to beyond 40 kHz at -6 dB and stays within ±2.5 dB from 74 Hz to 20 kHz. With PoE+ power, short-term SPL reaches 96 dB or more, long-term SPL 91 dB or more, and peaks exceed 100 dB. Dispersion is 130 degrees horizontally and 110 degrees vertically. The only connection is one RJ45 socket (100BASE-TX), which accepts PoE+ to IEEE 802.3at Class 4 at 30 W or standard PoE to 802.3af at 15.4 W, and carries AES67, ST2110-30 or Dante audio streams. There is no analogue input. Power use is 3 W in ISS standby, 4 W idle and 30 W at full output. It measures 181 x 121 x 115 mm and weighs 1.5 kg.
Engineering and use context
Because the speaker is both powered and fed with audio over the network, an installation needs no mains sockets, amplifier racks or separate loudspeaker cables, and each unit can be up to 100 m from the switch on CAT5, CAT5e or CAT6 cable. The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure is cast from recycled aluminium, with rounded edges to reduce diffraction, and a Directivity Control Waveguide sets the tweeter dispersion. A reflex port supports the small woofer. Genelec's Smart IP Manager software provides 20 user filters, including parametric notches, high and low shelves, bass roll-off, bass tilt and treble tilt, along with sensitivity from -60 to 0 dB, delay of up to 98 ms, and zones storing up to five profiles. Third-party control systems can operate the speakers through an API, and the Smart IP Controller app handles daily control. An electronic protection system guards the drivers and amplifiers. M6 mounting points are provided, and a simple bracket comes in the box.
Pairing
The 4410A needs a PoE+ or PoE network switch and an audio-over-IP source using Dante or AES67, such as a networked mixer, matrix or media player. Genelec lists black and white finishes, plus RAL colours to order.
Alternatives
The Genelec 4420A steps up to a 105 mm woofer with 50 W amplifiers per driver and adds an analogue Euroblock input.
