The 4030C is a two-way active installation loudspeaker from Genelec's 4000 series, sized between the 4020C and 4040A. Genelec designed the range for fixed installations in commercial and residential spaces, using a die-cast aluminium enclosure and a Euroblock input, and the C revision of the 4030 is documented in a manual dated February 2017.
Key specs that matter
Drivers are a 130 mm (5-inch) cone woofer and a 19 mm metal dome tweeter, and each has a dedicated 50 W Class D amplifier. The active crossover operates at 3.0 kHz. Response spans 47 Hz to 25 kHz at the -6 dB points and holds within ±2 dB from 54 Hz to 20 kHz. Short-term output reaches more than 104 dB, long-term output more than 96 dB, and peak output from a pair exceeds 110 dB. Audio arrives through a balanced Euroblock input at 10 kohms. Power consumption is below 0.5 W in ISS mode, 3 W idle and 60 W at full output, drawn from mains of 100 to 240 V. The enclosure is 285 mm high, 189 mm wide and 178 mm deep, and weighs 4.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure is cast in aluminium with rounded contours that minimise diffraction at the cabinet edges, and the housing also acts as a rigid, non-resonant shell for the drivers. The tweeter's Directivity Control Waveguide governs dispersion, so that the response remains consistent for listeners seated off axis, a common situation in public spaces. Low-frequency output is supported by a reflex port. Both drivers are magnetically shielded, and built-in circuitry protects them from overload. The switch panel contains Treble Tilt of +2 dB above 5 kHz, Bass Roll-Off of -4 dB at 55 Hz, Bass Tilt from 0 to -6 dB, and ISS, which switches the speaker to standby after a period without signal. Mounting points include a 3/8-inch UNC thread in the base, M6x10 threads for Omnimount size 20.5 brackets, and a supplied keyhole plate for flat wall mounting. The speaker is offered in black, white, RAL colours and unpainted RAW aluminium.
Pairing
A mixer, matrix, preamplifier or other balanced line source feeds the Euroblock input over installed cable, while the built-in amplifiers remove the need for a rack of power amps. The larger woofer suits larger rooms than the 4020C, and a Genelec subwoofer can be added for music playback with more bass.
Alternatives
The Genelec 4040A is the bigger 4000 series model, with a 165 mm woofer, 120 W Class AB amplifiers per driver and a 50 Hz lower limit.
