The Letshuoer S15 is a universal in-ear monitor whose main transducer is a third generation 14.8 mm planar magnetic driver. Letshuoer adds a second element to the design, a 6 mm passive unit tied to what the brand names R-Sonic Dynamic Harmonic Technology, which the company describes as a means of managing harmonics rather than as an extra active driver. Letshuoer lists the S15 at USD 329, and the maker covers the earpieces for 12 months and the cable for 3 months. The shell was produced in collaboration with HeyGears, a maker of 3D printing systems.
Key specs that matter
The quoted frequency response covers 20 Hz to 40 kHz. Sensitivity is 106 dB and impedance is 30 ohms. The design is closed-back, and these figures place it within reach of phones, dongles and portable players. The detachable cable attaches through flush mounted 0.78 mm two-pin receptacles. The planar driver sits in a dual chamber arrangement inside the shell.
Engineering and use context
Acoustically the S15 relies on dual acoustic tubes and a filter crossover scheme that divides the work between the planar unit and the passive module. The front cavity is 3D printed to high precision, and Letshuoer states that its internal structure was optimised as part of the acoustic layout. The chassis is 3D printed resin, finished with a faceplate of aluminium-magnesium alloy that is CNC carved, sandblasted and anodised. The company says the precise acoustic configuration is intended to minimise distortion, and it describes the shell shape as a lightweight ergonomic design aimed at comfort and fit.
Pairing
The supplied cable is 1.2 m long and uses 216 strands of silver-plated monocrystalline copper. Its plug end is interchangeable, and three terminations come in the box, a 2.5 mm balanced plug, a 3.5 mm single-ended plug and a 4.4 mm balanced plug, each angled at 90 degrees. This covers older portable players with 2.5 mm balanced outputs, ordinary single-ended jacks and the Pentaconn 4.4 mm balanced standard. The accessory set adds two types of ear tips in three sizes each and a storage case with a screw-on lid and organising compartments inside, along with a user manual.
Alternatives
A smaller and lower priced planar option in the Letshuoer range is the S08, which uses a 13 mm fourth generation planar driver with a dual voice coil diaphragm.
