The Mystic 8 is an all balanced armature in-ear monitor made by Letshuoer, an earphone company from China founded in 2016 and headed by Danny To, a former Panasonic engineer. Announced in February 2025 as the first model of the Myst series, it was listed at USD 989. According to the maker, the tuning took two years. The faceplate carries a phantom cat cutout with faux diamond eyes and silver swirl patterns, and the same cat motif returns as a ring packed with the earphones.

Key specs that matter

Eight balanced armature drivers sit in each shell, four from Sonion and four from Knowles, with no dynamic or planar unit alongside them. A three-way electronic crossover splits the signal, and four acoustic tubes carry the output to the nozzle. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 40 kHz and impedance is 18 ohm at 1 kHz. Letshuoer gives sensitivity as 107 dB per Vrms. The earpieces use flush 0.78 mm two-pin sockets.

Engineering and use context

Balanced armatures are small and efficient, but they tend to give less low-frequency output than a dynamic driver, so Letshuoer adds a low-pass filtering module made of porous material with a micro-hole structure to support the bass range. The four ducts run separately inside the shell and meet only at the tip of the all-metal nozzle, which has a fine silver grill and a lip that keeps the tips in place. The shells are CNC machined from titanium alloy and finished in high-gloss vapor black, a treatment chosen for durability and corrosion resistance. They are heavier than typical acrylic housings yet lighter than steel ones. The body is compact with smooth corners and sits nearly flush with the ear, and the ported design avoids pressure build-up while still giving decent isolation.

Portable gear drives this low impedance easily, and the stock lead is terminated with a soldered 4.4 mm balanced plug, so players and DAC amplifiers with a 4.4 mm output connect directly; owners of single-ended sources need a separate adapter. The 1.25 m lead has eight strands of 20 cores each, built from 0.05 mm silver-plated monocrystalline copper wires with dielectric shielding, laid in a loose braid, and its two-pin plugs have plastic bodies. Three types of silicone tips offered in three sizes each, a round aluminium case with a black silicone lid and rubber lining, a cleaning brush and a steel necklace for the cat ring complete the package.
