The ToneWinner AT-600 is a home theatre surround processor from the Chinese maker ToneWinner, designed to process object-based surround soundtracks and pass 8K video while leaving amplification to separate power amps. It sits in the brand's range of AV decoders as its model with 8K video decoding and HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and it adds licensed third-party measurement software to ToneWinner's own ETQ routine, which sets channel levels and distances automatically.
Key specs that matter
The processor handles Dolby Atmos and DTS:X streams, with speaker layouts selectable from 2.0 up to 9.3.4. Fully balanced outputs serve a 7.1.6 or 9.1.4 system, while the unbalanced set reaches 7.3.6 or 9.3.4. Conversion runs on an ESS ES9081 eight-channel chip with HyperStream IV architecture, accepting up to 768 kHz and DSD1024. Measured through the analog pure path, ToneWinner quotes THD of 0.004 percent or lower, an SNR of 110 dB or higher, response from 10 Hz to 65 kHz (+1/-3 dB), channel separation of 90 dB or more and a maximum output of 4 Vrms. There are six HDMI inputs and two outputs, with native 8K passthrough on HDMI 1 to 3, HDCP 2.3, eARC, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ at 8K/60Hz.
Engineering and use context
Beyond HDMI, the rear panel offers twin coaxial and twin optical sockets for digital sources, four analog inputs, plus RS232, IR inputs and trigger outputs for system control. A 5.1 external mixing input lets an outboard mixer be added. Each channel gets a parametric EQ with 7 to 11 bands, lipsync delay goes up to 1 second, and every input stores its own settings, so any video source can be paired with audio from another. A built-in player reads FLAC, APE, WAV and MP3 from a TF card or USB drive with multi-level folders, and a wireless audio receiver is included. Dual screens on the front and a configurable on-screen menu show status, and firmware updates arrive wirelessly. Control is by app or wireless remote. The chassis measures 431 x 304 x 80 mm, weighs 4.3 kg net (6.3 kg packed) and draws a maximum of 30 W from either a 110-115 V or 220-230 V supply.
Pairing
As a pure processor the AT-600 needs multichannel power amplification behind it, and ToneWinner's own AD series of AV power amps, such as a seven-channel or three-channel unit, connect over the balanced outputs with trigger linkage. An 8K display and 8K sources belong on the first three HDMI inputs.
Alternatives
The ToneWinner AT-500 is an 8K Dolby Atmos processor from the same range.
