The YX-02 from Guangzhou Tonewinner Electronics is a complete 5.1.4 home theater and karaoke system that combines a separate amplifier, a subwoofer and four tall speaker columns in one package. Onboard decoding takes in Dolby Atmos and DTS:X plus earlier Dolby formats, and it is intended for living rooms and media rooms where movies, music, games and karaoke all run through one setup. The maker also sells a version named YX-02P.

Engineering and use context

Video passes through HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 at 4K and 60 Hz, including full RGB chroma, Dolby Vision and HDR10, over four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. HDMI eARC lets a TV send its own audio back to the amplifier, and CEC control allows one remote to handle power and volume across connected devices. Optical and coaxial outputs are also fitted. The surround columns are fed wirelessly through a 5.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz dual-band link, and their own mains input explains why they need a power socket rather than speaker cable. Because the height channels are built into the columns, no ceiling speakers are needed for the Atmos layout. The amplifier also carries built-in karaoke functions.

Pairing

As a self-contained package the YX-02 needs only a TV and sources such as a streaming box, games console or Blu-ray player connected over HDMI. A TV with eARC can act as the hub for its built-in apps, with the amplifier handling decoding.
