Accuphase DP-470 – A New Japanese CD Player

The Accuphase DP-470 CD player has been unveiled, representing an evolutionary upgrade to the respected Japanese company's product lineup. True to tradition, the DP-470 employs a drive mechanism with a low center of gravity; a rubber damper is positioned between the laser pickup transport mechanism and the disc loader to suppress lens actuator resonance. An eight-pole neodymium magnet ensures secure disc clamping.

A bridge structure - comprising three layers, including a foam core and a 1.6 mm steel plate - is mounted over the transport mechanism; it dissipates chassis resonances and dampens airborne noise generated by the drive. Every detail is top-tier, from the milled aluminum disc tray to the high-carbon cast iron chassis feet.

The digital-to-analog converter remains the same - the ESS Technology ES9026PRO MDS+ - but a significant change has been made to the current-to-voltage conversion stage. It now utilizes the ANCC module, a proprietary Accuphase development in which an auxiliary amplifier generates a signal to compensate for noise and distortion in the main signal amplifier.

The result? The signal-to-noise ratio has improved from 119 to 120 dB, dynamic range from 116 to 117 dB, and channel separation from 113 to 114 dB. The rated output THD+N is 0.0008%, while within the conversion stage itself, it has dropped below 0.0002%. In Japan, the DP-470 is priced at 528,000 yen (tax included), with shipments scheduled to begin in late August 2026.
