EMT-Tontechnik is releasing a limited-edition vinyl cartridge, the EMT JSD 20, to mark the 20th anniversary of its iconic JSD series, which debuted in 2006. This moving-coil (MC) cartridge is being produced in a strictly limited run of just 100 units.

The EMT JSD 20 features a multi-layered EMT transducer paired with a proprietary Gyger-S profile diamond stylus, mounted on a ruby cantilever. The design incorporates a titanium insert, and the coil is wound with 24-karat gold wire. The cartridge body is constructed as a sandwich of aluminum and bronze, accented with gold-plated inserts, and utilizes AlNiCo magnets. A standout feature is the special "Royal Ruby" finish - a multi-day application process. Each individual unit comes with its own unique serial number.

The JSD 20 is designed for a standard 1/2-inch mount and weighs 11.1 grams. It delivers an output voltage of 1 mV (at a groove velocity of 5 cm/s), with a recommended tracking force of 2.1 ± 0.1 grams. The specified frequency range is 20 Hz to 30 kHz, and the internal impedance is 2 × 20 ohms. The manufacturer recommends a load impedance between 100 and 200 ohms.
