The LUNNA is a compact floorstanding loudspeaker produced in France by JMR - Jean-Marie Reynaud, sold in its current MKII form. It is a narrow column built for medium to large living rooms, and JMR states that it introduces several technical changes to the range - custom-specified drivers, a reworked passive crossover and a stiffer cabinet without parallel walls. The listed price is 1,990 EUR, in Woodscore satin black or satin black. JMR uses the same Woodscore look on its LUCIA MKII bookshelf model.
Key specs that matter
Frequency response is 40 Hz to 25 kHz. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, with a measured minimum of 4.3 ohm. Sensitivity is 91.6 dB at 2.83 V, which JMR also expresses as 89 dB at 2 V. Power handling is 120 W with a 200 W peak rating, and the recommended amplifier range is 40 to 150 W. Distortion stays below 0.5 percent at 84 dB. The cabinet is 85 cm high, 30.8 cm deep and 18.6 cm wide, and each speaker weighs 18 kg. JMR gives a listening area of 20 m2 to 40 m2, and wiring is single-wire.
Engineering and use context
The bass loading is a tuned triangular line that ends in a front-firing port. Its enclosure is 19 mm MDF assembled under a press, and because no walls run parallel, standing waves are reduced along with the need for internal absorbent. Rounded front edges and an acoustic felt around the drivers limit early reflections, and the tweeter sits in its own isolated volume so it has no mechanical or acoustic interaction with the woofer. The 13 cm mid-bass driver uses a long-fibre paper cone, a 30 mm coil on an aerated aluminium support, a copper ring in the pole to linearise impedance and reduce harmonic distortion, and a perforated aluminium basket with a vented spider for better heat handling. The 25 mm fabric dome unit relies on a neodymium motor in a small tuned chamber with a low 650 Hz resonance, and its injection-moulded ABS faceplate has a horn-shaped profile that raises efficiency. The 2.5-way passive filter uses asymmetric 6, 12 and 12 dB/octave slopes with crossover points at 300 Hz and 2,800 Hz, and its parts are sorted to measure. Steel decoupling spikes are supplied and screw into M6 threaded inserts.
Pairing
The speaker is intended for domestic systems only, and JMR excludes public or private sound reinforcement from its warranty.
Alternatives
The CANTABILE JUBILE is a taller JMR floorstanding speaker with two 130 mm woofers and a 28 mm silk dome tweeter in a solid beech head.
