The Lunna MKII is a compact floorstanding loudspeaker from Jean-Marie Reynaud, the French maker, released in summer 2025 as the replacement for the original Lunna. It is designed and built in France and priced at 1990 EUR per pair.
Key specs that matter
This is a 2.5-way design with two 13 cm mid/bass drivers and a 25 mm textile dome tweeter. The crossover uses slopes of 6, 12 and 12 dB per octave, with crossover points at 300 Hz and 2800 Hz. Rated response is 40 Hz to 25 kHz. Sensitivity is 91.6 dB at 2.83 V, or 89 dB at 2 V, and nominal impedance is 4 ohms with a stated minimum of 4.3 ohms. The maker rates admissible power at 120 W and peak at 200 W, with distortion below 0.5 percent at 84 dB. The cabinet stands 85 cm high, 18.6 cm wide and 30.8 cm deep and weighs 18 kg.
Engineering and use context
The mid/bass drivers are exclusive to JMR, with long-fibre paper cones, 30 mm voice coils on vented aluminium formers, copper rings to keep impedance linear, vented aluminium baskets and ventilated surrounds. The tweeter has a neodymium magnet, a 650 Hz resonance and an ABS front plate, and it is housed in a separate isolated chamber. The enclosure is 19 mm MDF assembled under press, with no parallel walls to limit standing waves and rounded front edges to reduce edge diffraction, loaded as a tuned triangular line with a front-facing port, and adhesive acoustic felt around the woofers on the baffle damps early reflections. The front port allows placement relatively close to the rear wall, at a minimum distance of 40 cm, and JMR suggests about 2 m between the speakers and rooms of 20 to 40 m2. Terminals are single-wired and accept spades or banana plugs, and chromed steel coupling spikes with counter-spikes screw into M6 threaded inserts. The speakers are sold in pairs with a five-year guarantee. Finishes are satin black and Woodscore satin black.
Pairing
JMR suggests amplifiers delivering between 40 and 150 W. Since the impedance never falls under its nominal value, most integrated amplifiers will cope, and the high sensitivity leaves room for modest power in a mid-sized room.
Alternatives
The JMR Euterpe Jubile is a taller floorstanding model priced at 3250 EUR that uses a single 17 cm mid/bass driver with a 28 mm silk dome tweeter in a 92 cm tall cabinet, with a single 12 dB per octave crossover and a rated response down to 38 Hz.
