According to the manufacturer, the novelty is implemented in a fully balanced circuit design on discrete elements with passive equalization of RIAA and DECCA curves for both movable magnet (MM) and movable coil (MC) heads.
The Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3 is a phono corrector designed to work with MM and MC cartridges. The feature of this model is a fully balanced circuit design. Using a balanced connection ensures a detailed and neutral sound. The audio circuit of the Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3 B is performed entirely on discrete components to eliminate distortion.
An interesting feature is the ability to smoothly adjust the input resistance level in the range from 10 to 1000 ohms when connecting the MS heads. For pickup heads with a movable magnet (MM), a fixed resistance level of 47 kOhm is set, but for them you can choose from four plug-in capacity options - 50, 150, 300 or 400 picofarads.
The model can work with both MM heads and movable coil pickups. For better matching with different models, the user can choose from four gain levels (40, 45, 60 and 65 dB), five input resistance values (10, 50 and 100 ohms, 1 and 47 kOhm) and four pluggable capacitances (50, 150, 300 and 400 pcF).
The Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 Ultra features a close to flawless RIAA correction curve, and also gives the user the ability to adjust the gain, resistance, and capacitance levels for use with almost any movable magnet and movable coil heads.
