Closer Acoustics

The EMS LB7 driver of this model has a resonant frequency of 40 Hz and an operating range extending up to 18 kHz, which allows you not to use a tweeter. Other characteristics of the speaker are also impressive – a quality factor of 0.215, a moving mass of 6.5 g and a sensitivity of 94 dB. Since there is no crossover in the speaker design, the speakers have the same sensitivity.

The Ogy speakers use EMS LB5 drivers with a diameter of 10 cm, hand-made in France. Speaker dimensions are 13 x 31 x 32 cm, weight 7.5 kg. The internal volume is 6 liters. The cases are finished with corian, an artificial stone (a composite of minerals and acrylic), which is widely used for making kitchen countertops, etc.

Each Vigo speaker has a 12-inch EMS LB12 MK II full-range speaker with a paper diffuser. This driver, with a power of up to 40 watts, allows Vigo to demonstrate a sensitivity of 97 dB, which makes acoustics an attractive option for use in lamp settings.

The developers from Closer Acoustics considered several body design options and several sizes. In the end, we settled on a proprietary cabinet with distributed resonance, built according to the same principles as the housings of the Closer Vigo, Adam and Eva speaker systems.

The model uses an ART (Accelerated Ribbon Technology) ribbon tweeter, which raises the upper limit of high frequencies to 35kHz and HexaCone midrange/woofer speakers. Together, they create a "remarkable clean and accurate sound picture," according to the company's press release.

Thanks to the built-in Supravox 215 Signature Bicone full-band driver with a paper membrane without crossover, the speaker provides realistic sound.

The Closer Acoustics Provocateur 300B develops a power of 2 x 8 Watts in pure Class A. There is no OOS. Bandwidth is from 18 to 23,000 Hz, channel separation is 70 dB, distortion is not higher than 0.3% per 1 watt of power. The lamps used are 5U4G; 6 SN7, 300B. The Closer Acoustics Provocateur 300B weighs 28 kg.

The main difference between this version and the basic one is the finish. The developers used a matte finish here.

The special feature of Flo is that it is aimed at real record collectors. Many records were released long before the introduction of the RIAA standard with its correction curve. Moreover, alternative correction options were used by many labels up to the 70s of the last century.
