Проигрыватели виниловых дисков — Technics SL-1200M7B

The SL-1200M7B is a special edition of the Technics SL-1200 direct drive turntable created in collaboration with Automobili Lamborghini. It comes in three finishes named after Lamborghini liveries - Arancio Apodis, Verde Shock and Giallo Athon - and its American retail price is set at USD 1,999.99. The turntable runs from AC 120 V at 60 Hz in its US version.

Key specs that matter

A coreless direct drive motor spins the platter at 33 1/3, 45 or 78 rpm, and reverse play is also supported. Starting torque is 0.18 N m, or 1.8 kg cm, and the platter reaches 33 1/3 rpm from standstill in 0.7 seconds. Wow and flutter is quoted at 0.025 percent W.R.M.S. The diecast aluminium platter is 332 mm across and weighs about 1.8 kg including slipmat and slipsheet. Pitch can be varied by up to 8 or 16 percent either way. The deck measures 453 x 169 x 353 mm and weighs about 9.6 kg, with a power draw of 8 W and 0.2 W in standby.

Engineering and use context

The coreless motor design avoids cogging, the uneven rotation that iron-cored motors can show, while still providing the torque that DJ use calls for. The supplied tonearm is a universal static balance type with a 230 mm effective length, 15 mm overhang and a 22 degree offset angle. Technics gives a maximum tracking error of 2 degrees 32 minutes near the lead-in and 32 minutes near the label. The arm height adjusts over a 6 mm range, and stylus pressure is set between 0 and 4 g. Cartridges from 5.6 to 12.0 g fit without the auxiliary weight, equal to 14.3 to 20.7 g including a headshell. The Lamborghini package adds a record with V12 engine recordings, a picture disc showing the tyre design of the Revuelto, a slipmat and branded stickers.

Pairing

As a complete deck with arm but no phono stage inside, the SL-1200M7B needs an amplifier or mixer with an RIAA stage or a separate phono box. The wide cartridge weight window and headshell mount make it easy to swap between a DJ cartridge and a home listening cartridge, and the 78 rpm speed opens the deck to shellac discs when a matching stylus is fitted. Reverse play and the two pitch ranges are aimed at DJ scratching and beat matching, and the quick start time means a record reaches speed almost at once on start. The static balance arm has a height scale, so arm height can be reset after a cartridge change with a thicker or thinner body.

Alternatives

The Technics SL-1200MK7 is the regular edition of this direct drive DJ turntable without the Lamborghini styling.
