The ToneWinner SW-D8000 is a Guangzhou Tonewinner Electronics subwoofer with DSP that places two 15-inch drivers in one MDF cabinet. It follows the SW-D series formula of a Class D amplifier, onboard digital processing, built-in Wi-Fi and control through the Tonewinner app, and it sits between the single-driver SW-D6000 and the larger SW-D8000PRO in the range. Compared with the SW-D8000PRO, it quotes a slightly higher lower limit, a maximum SPL 2 dB lower, and a cabinet about 15 kg lighter, while the drivers, amplifier rating and displacement figure are the same on paper. The 12-inch SW-D4000 and single 15-inch SW-D6000 below it use 800 W amplifiers.

Key specs that matter

The amplifier delivers 1500 W RMS into 3 ohms and is rated for 8000 W peak into that load. ToneWinner quotes a frequency range of 13 Hz to 220 Hz and a maximum SPL of 119 dB(C), peak music level at 1 m. Rated power consumption is 1100 W. The drivers have an air volume displacement of 2.41 litres. The cabinet is 562 mm wide, 694 mm deep and 648 mm high, and it weighs about 70 kg net and about 79 kg gross. It accepts mains at 110-115 V or 220-230 V, 50 or 60 Hz.

Engineering and use context

Each 15-inch driver has a cone on a cast aluminium frame, an elastic surround, a 75 mm OFC voice coil for long excursion and a double magnet. The cabinet has five reflex ports, which can be sealed by hand, after which seal mode is selected in the app. From the phone the owner can set volume, port tuning, polarity, phase from 0 to 180 degrees, the HPF and LPF with their slope, a 7-band parametric EQ, standby on no signal, the wake-up threshold and matching of the input level. The four listening modes differ in their filter settings - deep uses lower high-pass and low-pass values, strong uses higher ones, normal sits in between, and user keeps only the two filters without a preset EQ. The same controls are reachable on an LCD with four touch buttons, read from above. Protection covers over-voltage, over-heat, overload, over-current and short circuit.

Pairing

Its XLR and RCA inputs are meant for the LFE line from a multichannel processor, and one output jack passes the signal to a further subwoofer. ToneWinner markets its SW-D models together with its own Dolby Atmos receivers.

Alternatives

The ToneWinner SW-D9000 takes a different route, with a single 18-inch driver instead of a pair of 15-inch units.
