The 3060S is the active subwoofer of the 3000i range from the British brand Q Acoustics, designed to complete systems built from the 3010i, 3020i, 3030i and 3050i speakers and the 3090i centre channel in a 5.1 home cinema. The shallow cabinet is meant to sit flat against a wall or even hang on it. The UK price is GBP 299.
Key specs that matter
A single 200 mm driver works in a sealed infinite baffle enclosure with 10.6 litres of effective internal volume. It is powered by a 150 W Class D amplifier. The frequency response is given as 35 Hz to 250 Hz at +3 dB and -6 dB, and the low-pass filter point is adjustable over that same span. The cabinet measures 480 mm wide, 300 mm high and only 150 mm deep, rising to 324 mm with the spikes fitted, and the unit weighs 8.5 kg. Finish options listed by the maker are Graphite Grey, English Walnut, Carbon Black and Arctic White, with magnetic grilles and chrome bezels matching the rest of the 3000i family.
Engineering and use context
Inside, Q Acoustics uses its P2P Point to Point bracing to stiffen the thin cabinet walls. All controls and sockets sit behind a magnetic hatch, and the input connector is angled with a downward-facing exit so that cables drop straight down instead of sticking out behind the box, which is what makes wall hanging practical. An optional dedicated black wall bracket is sold for that purpose, while on the floor the subwoofer stands on rubber feet or on the four supplied spikes. On the control panel are a level knob, the variable crossover dial with an AV position intended for Q Acoustics systems, a phase switch between 0 and 180 degrees, and an auto standby selector. Set to AUTO, it powers up on detecting an input and drops into standby after a spell of inactivity, while ON keeps it running permanently. The manual advises keeping it more than 1 metre from the front speakers when checking phase, and away from heat sources.
Pairing
The preferred connection is the LFE line-level RCA input fed from an AV receiver's sub out, where the crossover dial goes to the AV setting and bass management is left to the receiver. Stereo left and right RCA inputs also take the preamp or subwoofer outputs of a stereo amplifier, in which case the dial sets the upper limit to blend with bookshelf speakers such as the 3010i or 3020i.

A larger subwoofer from the same brand is the Q Acoustics Q B12.
